About the Library
The main aim of the Library of Shillong Medical College is to cater to the needs of the students pursuing Medical course. The Central Library houses an extensive collection of over 7,000 books, newspapers and magazines covering a wide range of subjects to support learning and research. The journal subscription is ongoing, ensuring continuous access to the latest research and publications The Central Library of Shillong Medical College serves as an essential academic and research resource for students, faculty, researchers, and staff. These rules and policies are established to ensure equitable access to resources, maintain a conducive learning environment, and uphold institutional standards. The Library is fully automated with KOHA software for all in house operations.
General Rules
Entry is permitted only with a valid Shillong Medical College ID card.
The Central Library is a silent study zone. Users must maintain silence at all times.
Use of mobile phones, loud conversations, or disruptive behavior is strictly prohibited inside the library.
Smoking, eating, and drinking (except water) are strictly prohibited inside.
Personal belongings must be kept in the designated storage area; the library is not responsible for lost items.
Users must follow instructions given by library staff.
Respect library staff and fellow users.
The library and reading room are monitored 24/7 by CCTV cameras to ensure a safe and secure environment for all users.
Library Membership
Eligibility
Library membership is available to:
- All enrolled students of Shillong Medical College
- Teaching and non-teaching staff
- Visiting faculty and researchers (upon request)
Registration
Members must complete the registration process with a valid institutional ID. A membership form is available for new users.
