Pharmacology Department
The Department of Pharmacology at Shillong Medical College is committed to academic excellence, research, and clinical application of pharmacological sciences. The department imparts training to MBBS students in accordance with the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The department is equipped with a Pharmacology Laboratory, Computer-Assisted Learning (CAL) facility, Clinical Pharmacology modules, and a Pharmacology Museum for academic enrichment. Emphasis is placed on rational drug use, pharmacovigilance, prescription writing skills, and evidence-based therapeutics to bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice.
The faculty members are engaged in teaching, research, and community outreach, while also contributing to pharmacovigilance activities and collaborative academic initiatives. The department strives to develop future physicians with a strong foundation in safe, effective, and rational pharmacotherapy.
